Veneers are used to hide the imperfections of teeth, including gaps between teeth, chipped teeth, and discolored teeth. Veneers are highly resistant to stains and will maintain their bright appearance even after consuming dark foods and beverages such as beets, chocolate, coffee, and red wine. Porcelain veneers are extremely durable and can last between 5 and 10 years, eliminating the need to constantly replace them. If you are unhappy with the shape of your teeth, dental veneers can be a non-invasive way to help you achieve a beautiful, uniform smile.
Invisalign is a teeth-straightening system without the need of metal brackets or rubber bands. With the use of a series of custom, clear aligners to shift their teeth into the correct position, patients can achieve the perfect smile. As the teeth straighten, patients progress to the next set of aligners in the series. The ability to remove the aligner trays at any time makes brushing, flossing and eating easy.
There are a large variety of factors that can cause teeth to become discolored; age, smoking, certain medications, and consuming dark foods and beverages. Teeth whitening is a widely used option for quickly improving one’s confidence and appearance as it restores the color of yellowed teeth. At Northwestern Dental Group, you have the option to schedule an appointment for in-office whitening or take home one of our professional grade whitening kits. If you’re looking for a safe and cost-effective way to attain a bright smile, our whitening treatments are available for you.
Crowns and Bridges
Dental crown and bridgework is a reliable solution for dental problems involving tooth loss or excessive wear and tear. When a tooth is lost due to an accident or disease or an old filling broke and further damaged the tooth, crowns, and/or bridges can be used to restore a smile.
Some patients will experience seemingly unexplained pain from filled teeth, which is usually due to tiny cracks on the surface of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth.
In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause “appearance” problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage.
The material used in these repairs is either high-grade porcelain or porcelain bonded to gold. A higher strength of the porcelain and gold materials is recommended to treat the most serious of dental problems.
