Sedation Dentistry

Would you like to sleep through your dental work?

Many patients express anxiety about getting dental work done while awake. Now with sedation dentistry, you can sleep through your dental procedure. As leaders in sedation dentistry, at Northwestern Dental Group, we offer IV sedation so you don’t have to feel any part of your procedure. With IV sedation, you are still conscious but are put in a very deep state of relaxation. You will feel as though you are asleep and will likely not remember anything after your procedure.

What is sedation dentistry?

Sedation dentistry refers to the use of pharmaceutical drugs to calm a patient while undergoing a dental procedure. This class of drugs is known as sedatives for their ability to suppress the brain’s conscious awareness during surgery.

What is IV sedation?

IV sedation is administered into the blood stream during treatment. You will be numbed with local anesthesia. If you have a fear of injections, the staff will wait for the IV sedation to kick in until the local anesthesia is administered. After you are sedated, you will not feel any pain or discomfort associated with your procedure, as you will be in a deep state of relaxation.
